Now 5g lighter than its predecessor, it also features an extra 2mm of cushioning in the midsole for even softer landings. While maintaining the comfortable characteristics of the Wave Rider 26, 27 has a revamped heel structure to provide a more secure fit, combined with a luxurious, seamless upper that gently wraps around the entire foot. Available in a range of different colours, including the option of a wider fit, the Mizuno Wave Rider 27 is a shoe for everyone, for every run.

Creating a smoother fit, the upper has been redesigned with a 3D PU print for a strategic hold and fit. The redesigned heel counter ensures balance and comfort through a better fit around the calcaneus. The upper of the shoe is designed to keep the temperature maintained at a comfortable level. Made from jacquard mesh, the shoes work to allow air to flow in and out of the shoe, keeping the feet feeling cool even during intense activity, due to the excellent control of airflow. The materials allow vapour from sweat to escape, which will keep your feet feeling dry and fresh.
In addition to this, the upper uses Mizuno's Dynamotion Fit. This system uses highly advanced motion capture and biomechanics technology to provide a supreme fit. This will mean that as your foot moves through the gait cycle, the shoe will work with your unique movement, accommodating the whole process comfortably. A secure and comfortable fit is guaranteed with a gusset and extended tongue lining that will sit gently atop the foot and helps lock down the midfoot.
Wave Technology Midsole
The Wave Rider 27 comes with a bio-based Wave Plate. In an effort to reduce their carbon footprint while providing high-performance running shoes, Mizuno have collaborated with Pebax Rnew and have made the Waver Rider's iconic Wave Plate more sustainable.
The cloud-like shaped Wave Plate resides underfoot and has an additional 2mm cushioning. It supplies softer landings, strengthened rebounds, and firm stability, whilst ensuring smooth transitions through to midstance. Manufactured from Pebax Rnew, the Wave's sustainable construction spares your joints as you strike down onto hard, unforgiving concrete, whilst answering to the environmental awareness of its consumers. Performance isn't compromised though, you still get exceptional lightness, spring-back, impact resistance and improved flex fatigue resistance.
A unique U4ic midsole platform encases the Wave Plate to increase the level of comfort and performance provided by the Wave Rider 27, without sacrificing its stable nature. It is an engineered polymer that is light, responsive and cushioned, and it delivers you these properties, kilometre after kilometre, day after day. Then, beneath the wave plate and under the heel, a layer of U4icX foam exists to add yet another dollop of premium underfoot softness and impact protection. The latest addition to the Wave Rider 27 is the Mizuno Enerzy heel wedge which provides increased cushioning and energy return.
X10 Outsole
Stay cool and dry as you pound the pavements. Mizuno Intercool solves the problem of heat and humidity build-up in a running shoe. It does this by incorporating a full-length ventilation system in the sole of the shoe that removes heat and humidity from the foot through a system of ventilation channels, to keep flagging feet happy on longer distance days. Durability and traction arrive in the form of an X10 outsole.
The extremely substantial carbon rubber allows for longer wear in high impact areas and provides more traction at the heel strike so you can run hard, knowing that your shoes can handle the heat. Mizuno integrates their Smoothride technology to minimise the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot during transition, creating the smoothest ride possible.
Smoothride begins working the moment your foot touches the ground; flex Grooves adorn the outsole to promote natural movement from the heel to the forefoot, initiating that rocking chair motion for fluid, uninhibited strides. The Wave Rider 27 is a true all-rounder; suitable for pace runs, and long distances, as well as daily training, delivering a supreme level of cushioning to the neutral runner.
